Canucks 5, Coyotes 4 (OT): Defenseman Kevin Bieksa scored his second goal of the game 2:15 into overtime as Vancouver outlasted visiting Phoenix after blowing a pair of two-goal leads.

Bieksa knocked in his own rebound after being set up in front by Brad Richardson and Chris Higgins recorded a goal and two assists. Zac Dalpe recorded a tally and an assist, Jannik Hansen also scored and Roberto Luongo made 29 saves as the Canucks won for the third time in four games.

Antoine Vermette registered his second hat trick of the season and the third of his career as the Coyotes rallied from 2-0 and 4-2 deficits. Captain Shane Doan scored a goal and set up another, David Moss notched two assists and Mike Smith turned aside 20 shots.

Bieksa started a 62-second spurt that produced three goals with a knuckling blast from the left point that got by Smith at 10:31 of the first period. Hansen hammered home a shot from the slot at 11:15, but Vermette answered when his tip attempt went in off Luongo’s stick 18 seconds later.

Vermette tied it on a deflection while short-handed 9:07 into the second, but Higgins and Dalpe scored 42 seconds apart later in the session to give Vancouver a 4-2 lead. Vermette buried a rebound during a power play with 55 seconds left in the second and Doan knotted the contest 5:24 into the third.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Vermette has recorded three short-handed goals in the last four games and has 21 in his career. … The Canucks were without C Henrik Sedin, who came in sharing the team lead in points with 40. The captain missed his third straight game with a rib injury. … Phoenix has scored at least one power-play goal in 10 of its last 11 games.
