Rangers 7, Devils 3: Mats Zuccarello scored twice to highlight his team's string of six unanswered goals as visiting New York breezed to victory at Yankee Stadium in the second contest of the NHL Stadium Series.
Derek Stepan converted a penalty shot and joined Dominic Moore and defenseman Marc Staal with a goal and an assist as the Rangers improved to 10-4-1 in their last 15 games. Rick Nash tallied for the fifth straight contest, Carl Hagelin also scored and Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 19 shots in the win.
Patrik Elias scored twice, Travis Zajac also tallied and Jaromir Jagr notched a pair of assists to snap a tie with Hall-of-Famer Mario Lemieux for 10th place on the all-time list with 1,035. Martin Brodeur yielded six goals on 21 shots before being relieved by Cory Schneider (four saves) to start the third period for New Jersey.
Zuccarello ignited New York's four-goal second period when defenseman John Moore's centering feed caromed off his left skate and into the net at 2:48 to forge a 3-3 tie. The Norwegian gave the Rangers the lead nearly 10 minutes later by converting a 3-on-1 rush and Hagelin's wrist shot from the edge of the right faceoff circle banked in off the mask of Brodeur 69 seconds afterward. Nash finished off another 3-on-1 rush for his team-leading 18th goal - and 11th in as many games.
After the start of the game was delayed by over an hour due to sun glare, the teams made up for lost time with five goals in the first period. Elias converted a partial breakaway 5:36 into the contest and answered Dominic Moore's tying tally by shoveling home Jagr's centering feed during a power play 11 minutes into the session. Zajac cleaned up a rebound at 16:07 to give New Jersey a 3-1 lead before Staal's soft wrist shot from along the left-wing boards trickled between the pads of Brodeur 52 seconds later.
