Bruins 3, Kings 2: Brad Marchand scored twice for the second consecutive contest and extended his goal-scoring streak to four games as host Boston avenged an earlier setback to Los Angeles.

Defenseman Torey Krug added a power-play tally and Patrice Bergeron notched two assists to stretch his point streak to four games. Chad Johnson turned aside 21 shots as Boston improved to 3-1-1 since dropping a 4-2 road decision to the Kings on Jan. 9.

Jeff Carter scored in his second straight contest for his team-leading 19th goal and defenseman Willie Mitchell netted his first in 50 games dating to March 28, 2012. Jonathan Quick, who was named the NHL's Second Star of the Week, finished with 20 saves as Los Angeles lost its second in a row (0-1-1).

After Carter's blast from the left faceoff circle at 8:35 of the third period forged a tie, Marchand regained the lead 18 seconds later as he shoveled a one-timer past Quick after Reilly Smith wired a sharp feed across the slot to the right circle. Carter attempted to level the contest but was denied by Johnson on a partial breakaway with 4 1/2 minutes to play.

Marchand benefited from a brilliant individual effort to open the scoring at 12:07 of the first period. With his team short-handed, Marchand collected a loose puck after his initial bid on a partial breakaway was denied before deftly maneuvering around Anze Kopitar and tucking the puck behind Quick.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Quick was honored by the NHL after posting a 2-0-1 mark with one shutout, a 0.97 goals-against average and a .967 save percentage. ... Los Angeles dominated the faceoff battle, with C Jarret Stoll winning 13-of-19 draws. Stoll was victorious on 18-of-23 faceoffs in the teams' first meeting. ... Krug gave Boston a 2-0 lead as his blast from the outer edge of the left circle beat Quick, who was screened by towering D Zdeno Chara with 2:09 left in the first period. Mitchell trimmed the deficit by skating down the slot before depositing C Mike Richards' centering feed past Johnson at 4:09 of the second.
