Canadiens 2, Blackhawks 1 (OT): Defenseman Andrei Markov scored both goals, including the game-winner at 1:28 of overtime, to lift host Montreal over the defending Stanley Cup champions.

Markov corralled a deflected pass in the left faceoff circle and snapped a shot past Corey Crawford as the Canadiens handed Chicago its season high-tying third straight defeat (0-1-2) and kept the Blackhawks winless in Montreal since 2001. Carey Price made 19 saves to improve to 5-0-2 in his last seven starts.

Marian Hossa scored the lone goal for Chicago, which lost for the fourth time in five games (1-1-3) and absorbed its sixth consecutive defeat at the Bell Centre. Crawford was superb in defeat, turning aside 36 shots, but remained winless in four starts (0-1-3) since returning from a 10-game injury absence.

Markov broke a scoreless deadlock at 12:54 of the second period, using George Parros as a screen and beating Crawford with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle. Playing without his stick, Crawford kept it a one-goal deficit with about a minute left in the middle session, denying Brandon Prust's short-handed breakaway and - while sprawled on the ice - kicking up his pads to rob Lars Eller's point-blank rebound opportunity.

The Blackhawks, who have not been shut out on the season, finally broke through midway through the third. Patrick Sharp sent a lead pass to captain Jonathan Toews, who slid a backhand pass that a charging Hossa chipped past Price at 9:22.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Markov recorded his first multi-goal performance since Jan. 22, 2013 against Florida. ... Toews ran his point streak to five games and has collected four goals and 17 assists in his last 16 contests. ... The Canadiens were 0-for-3 on the power play and have failed on 14 straight chances with the man advantage.
