Stars 6, Jets 4: Tyler Seguin collected two goals and two assists and captain Jamie Benn also scored twice to end an 11-game goalless drought as visiting Dallas maintained its dominance over the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise.
Rookie Valeri Nichushkin had a goal and an assist, Colton Sceviour netted his first NHL tally and veteran defenseman Sergei Gonchar had a career-high four assists - after mustering just six in his previous 30 games this season. Former Thrasher Kari Lehtonen turned aside 34 shots for the Stars, who improved to 13-2-2 all-time against the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise.
Blake Wheeler scored twice to increase his goal total to six in as many games and Matt Halischuk tallied before leaving with an upper-body injury. Olli Jokinen also scored and Ondrej Pavelec yielded five goals on 24 shots in two periods for the Jets, who dropped three in a row overall and fell to 0-3-3 in their last six home games.
Winnipeg's Anthony Peluso was whistled for a boarding penalty on defenseman Alex Goligoski, creating a five-minute power play late in the second period for Dallas. Benn netted his second of the contest to give his team a 4-3 lead after wiring a shot from the right circle under the crossbar with 2:43 remaining. Seguin added his second 63 ticks later after blasting a shot from the upper edge of the left circle off the post and into the net.
Wheeler exited the penalty box to score from the slot to forge a 2-2 tie at 12:58 of the second period. Benn cleaned up a rebound 48 seconds later for his first goal since Nov. 14 to give Dallas its third lead of the game, but Wheeler answered 1:07 later by skating through the slot before outlasting Lehtonen from under the right circle.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Sceviour capped Dallas' uprising by fending off Winnipeg rookie D Jacob Trouba's backcheck before beating Al Montoya (seven saves) with his backhand on a partial breakaway 2:48 into the third period. The 24-year-old Sceviour was playing in his third NHL game. ... After collecting two goals and two assists in a 4-1 victory over Winnipeg on Oct. 11, Seguin opened the scoring 7:14 into the first period after ripping a shot over the blocker of Pavelec. ... Benn had one goal and two assists in the teams' previous tilt in Manitoba.
