Oilers 7, Blue Jackets 0: David Perron scored twice en route to a career-high four-point performance and Devan Dubnyk turned aside 14 shots as Edmonton emphatically snapped a six-game home winless skid.
Ryan Smyth collected a goal and two assists and Nail Yakupov, Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall and defenseman Justin Schultz also tallied for the Oilers, who had been outscored 23-3 during their winless stretch. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins notched a pair of assists as Edmonton handed Columbus its sixth straight loss at Rexall Place and ninth in 11 games overall (2-6-3).
After scoring four unanswered goals in the third period of a 4-2 win over Calgary on Saturday, Edmonton kept its foot on the throttle by registering 15 of the game's first 18 shots to seize a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Eberle cleaned up a rebound at 2:37 of the first period, Perron doubled the advantage 9 1/2 minutes later after tapping home a loose puck and Smyth batted a centering pass out of the air to cap the first-period scoring.
Perron netted his seventh goal of the season midway through the second after skating along the edge of the right circle before scoring from a sharp angle to chase Sergei Bobrovsky (14 saves). Yakupov greeted Curtis McElhinney (11 saves) with Edmonton's third power-play goal 2 1/2 minutes later and Schultz celebrated his return from a groin injury by completing the team's second three-goal period nearly five minutes later.
Dubnyk faced half his shots in the second period and was barely tested en route to securing his seventh career shutout - and first this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Perron recorded seven three-point performances with St. Louis. ... Edmonton improved to 19-4-1 all-time at home against Columbus. ... The Blue Jackets allowed three power-play goals for the first time since Feb. 12, 2012, versus Anaheim - a span of 95 games.
