Penguins 3, Ducks 1: Brian Gibbons broke a scoreless third-period deadlock before setting up the game-winning goal just over a minute later in his NHL debut to lift host Pittsburgh past Anaheim.

Captain Sidney Crosby and Brandon Sutter also scored goals and Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 27 shots for the Penguins, who had lost four of their previous five. Evgeni Malkin had two assists as Pittsburgh scored three goals in the final period after being held to one tally in each of its past four defeats.

Captain Ryan Getzlaf had the lone goal for Anaheim, which completed a winless four-game road trip (0-3-1) despite registering the first 11 shots on goal in the contest. Viktor Fasth made 24 saves for the Ducks, who were unable to convert on a power play shortly after Getzlaf's goal.

Following two scoreless periods, the Penguins broke through at 3:52 of the third on a goal by Gibbons, who was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League earlier in the day. Malkin set up the score, taking the puck behind the net and completely circling the zone before laying a perfect feed that Gibbons scooped home.

Gibbons added an assist when Sutter tipped home Olli Maatta's shot from the left point 62 seconds later to double the lead, but the Ducks needed only 26 seconds to counter when Getzlaf was left alone in front of the crease and easily beat Fleury. Crosby, though, restored the two-goal cushion just over 2 1/2 minutes later, snapping a wrist shot from the right circle through a screen for only his second goal in 11 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Crosby collected his 26th point to tie St. Louis' Alexander Steen for the league lead. ... Ducks LW Matt Beleskey had two shots on goal in 11:21 in his return to the lineup after missing the previous 19 games with a fractured thumb. ... Penguins C Jussi Jokinen appeared in his 600th career game.
