Kings 3, Islanders 2: Rookie Tyler Toffoli scored the game-winner with 87 seconds to play to cap a three-goal third period for visiting Los Angeles.

Rookie Tanner Pearson scored his first career goal in his NHL regular-season debut and defenseman Slava Voynov ignited the comeback with another tally as the Kings sent New York to its fifth loss in six games. Ben Scrivens made 23 saves in his first start since Oct. 29.

Casey Cizikas and Aaron Ness scored just over two minutes apart in the second period for the Islanders, who fell to 4-4-3 at home. Kevin Poulin turned aside 21 shots but could not protect the two-goal lead in the final 20 minutes.

Cizikas broke the scoreless deadlock at 2:44 of the middle session, lofting a backhander over a fallen Scrivens for his first goal of the season. Ness collected his first NHL goal, one-timing a beautiful pass by captain John Tavares 2:14 later to make it 2-0.

Voynov started the comeback when he drilled a sharp-angle shot from the bottom of the right circle past Poulin and Pearson knotted it on the power play at 12:15 when his wrist shot squirted between the pads of Poulin and trickled over the goal line. Toffoli delivered the winner, redirecting defenseman Jake Muzzin's shot from the left point past Poulin.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kings G Jonathan Quick underwent an MRI exam that revealed a Grade Two groin strain suffered in Tuesday's loss at Buffalo. Kings F Jeff Carter, who sat out his fifth straight game, had his fractured right foot examined in Los Angeles on Thursday and is expected to be out at least three more weeks.
