Lightning 3, Red Wings 2 (OT): Teddy Purcell scored 3:51 into overtime to snap a nine-game goalless drought as Tampa Bay won in Detroit for the first time since 1994.

Richard Panik stole the puck from Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey behind the net and fed Purcell in front as the Lightning ended a six-game losing streak in the all-time series. Steven Stamkos extended his goal-scoring streak to six games, Ryan Malone tallied in his 600th career contest and Ben Bishop made 25 saves for the Lightning.

Captain Henrik Zetterberg netted both goals for the Red Wings, who are winless in their last three contests. Jimmy Howard made 31 saves for Detroit, which was 10-0-0 with a tie in its previous 11 home meetings with Tampa Bay.

Zetterberg capitalized on a turnover by Stamkos to score his ninth goal 3:51 into the contest, giving the Red Wings a 1-0 lead. Malone forged a tie at 10:11, when he netted his second of the season after Howard had stopped his first try on a wraparound.

Stamkos beat Howard to the glove side from the right faceoff circle at 12:50 of the second session, four seconds after the Lightning killed off a double-minor that included 36 seconds of a 5-on-3. Zetterberg tied it with 4:12 left in regulation, taking the puck off the boards and beating Bishop to the stick side from the right circle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The last victory for the Lightning against the Red Wings came on Jan. 7, 2003, and the last time Tampa Bay won at Detroit was Jan. 12, 1994. … Red Wings C Stephen Weiss sat out with a groin injury. … Lightning C Valtteri Filppula had six shots on goal in his first game against Detroit after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the organization.
