Devils 2, Lightning 1: Jaromir Jagr and Adam Henrique each recorded a goal in the second period and New Jersey held on to edge visiting Tampa Bay.

Martin Brodeur registered his second win of the season with 16 saves, including a dazzling pad stop on Valtteri Filppula with a little under seven minutes remaining. Henrique scored while short-handed and Jagr converted a breakaway as the Devils improved to 2-0-2 at home this season.

Steven Stamkos scored his ninth goal in the last nine games for Tampa Bay, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. Ben Bishop stopped 20 shots en route to only his second loss in nine decisions.

Bishop turned aside all 10 shots he faced in the first period and Brodeur made only four saves, but one came on Tyler Johnson's partial breakaway. Henrique stole the puck in the defensive zone and hammered home a pass from Patrik Elias on a 2-on-1 rush to snap the scoreless tie 1:36 into the middle session.

Jagr capitalized on a turnover by Lightning captain Martin St. Louis and beat Bishop high to the stick side to double the lead 10:54 into second. Tampa Bay rebounded later in the period to score on the power play as Stamkos poked in the rebound of his own deflection with 4:37 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: It was Jagr’s 119th game-winning goal, moving him ahead of Phil Esposito and two shy of Gordie Howe's all-time record, according to Elias Sports Bureau. … Tampa Bay D Eric Brewer played his 900th career game and Elias suited up for his 1,100th - all with the Devils. …The Lightning were charged with nine giveaways in the first two periods and none in the third.
