Kings 5, Stars 2: Justin Williams scored twice and set up defenseman Drew Doughty's game-winning goal to lift Los Angeles in the opener of its four-game homestand.

Doughty and fellow blue-liner Matt Greene each finished with a goal and an assist, Kyle Clifford also scored and Anze Kopitar collected three assists for the Kings, who won for the fifth time in six games. Jonathan Quick turned aside 27 shots as Los Angeles produced its season-high goal total after scoring only six times on its recent four-game road trip.

Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley recorded a goal and an assist apiece while Dan Ellis made 29 saves for Dallas, which couldn't carry over the momentum from handing San Jose its first loss on Thursday. Doughty snapped a 2-2 deadlock at 4:42 of the third, when he took a feed from Williams and tucked a backhander between the pads of Ellis.

Seguin gave the Stars the early lead when he redirected Jamie Benn's shot past Quick at 8:49 of the opening period, but Williams scored twice in a span of 3:01 to put the Kings on top. Defenseman Jake Muzzin threw a pass from the left corner at the net and it deflected off Williams' leg at 16:31.

Los Angeles ended an 0-for-13 power-play drought with 28 seconds left in the period, when Williams veered in from the left side and beat Ellis with a backhander. The Stars scored the only goal in the middle session as Peverley pounced on the rebound of Benn's attempt and whipped it past Quick for a 2-2 tie at the 8:13 mark.
