Islanders 4, Penguins 3: Kyle Okposo scored with 7:37 remaining in the third period to snap a tie as visiting New York overcame two goals by the returning Sidney Crosby to even its Eastern Conference first-round series with top-seeded Pittsburgh at one game apiece.

After being pulled in Wednesday's 5-0 loss in Game 1, Evgeni Nabokov rebounded from a shaky start to turn aside 30 shots. Matt Moulson scored a power-play goal in the first period and former Penguin Colin McDonald and Matt Martin tallied nearly 5 1/2 minutes apart in the second for eighth-seeded New York, which hosts Game 3 on Sunday afternoon.

Reigning Hart Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin recorded his 33rd career playoff goal just 43 seconds into the game while Jarome Iginla notched a pair of assists for the second straight contest. Marc-Andre Fleury finished with 38 saves but was victimized by a pair of goals following lively caroms off the end boards.

Okposo ignited New York's rally in the second period with a spirited fight against Pittsburgh defenseman Matt Niskanen. Two goals promptly followed before Okposo capped the comeback when his shot from the slot deflected off the end boards before banking off Fleury and into the net.

Playing in his first game since suffering a broken jaw on March 30 against the Islanders, Crosby gave Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead 3:19 into the first period by tapping in Iginla's feed at the doorstep. After Moulson scored a power-play goal nearly four minutes later, Crosby answered 18 seconds afterward with a sharp-angle shot from along the goal line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Malkin (10) and Crosby (eight) combined for 18 of the Penguins' 33 shots. ... Moulson was credited with a power-play goal at 7:04 of the first period, when his attempted goal-mouth feed deflected off the stick of Pittsburgh D Paul Martin. The tally ended the Islanders' 0-for-20 stretch with the man advantage versus the Penguins. ... After being held without a shot in Game 1, New York C John Tavares unleashed a team-high six on Friday and picked up an assist.
