Oilers 4, Avalanche 1: Jordan Eberle recorded a goal and two assists while Devan Dubnyk turned aside 33 shots as visiting Edmonton pulled away from Colorado to snap a six-game losing streak.

Rookie defenseman Justin Schultz chipped in with a goal and an assist and Magnus Paajarvi set up two scores for the Oilers, who won four of their five meetings with the Avalanche. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall also scored as Edmonton moved within eight points of eighth place in the Western Conference with five games remaining.

PA Parenteau scored his team-leading 17th goal for Colorado, which had its four-game point streak (2-0-2) snapped. Semyon Varlamov made 20 saves in his first game since April 6.

Hall, who left the game in the third period with an arm injury, drove to the net to flip in a loose puck after it had been knocked away from him 2:33 into the contest. Parenteau tied it for the Avalanche almost five minutes later, knocking home defenseman Shane O’Brien’s cross-ice pass at the left post.

Schultz tipped Eberle’s shot past Varlamov with 5:46 left in the first period to give the Oilers the lead for good. Eberle set up Nugent-Hopkins with a nifty drop pass 5:12 into the second session and beat everyone to a deflected shot in front to score on the backhand at 14:13 to cap the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Eberle had not recorded a point in his previous six games. ... Colorado RW Milan Hejduk was back in the lineup after missing nine games with a shoulder injury. … Nugent-Hopkins, who notched only his fourth goal after scoring 18 as a rookie last season, was a plus-4.
