Avalanche 4, Ducks 1: Jean-Sebastien Giguere burned his former team by turning aside 21 shots and Matt Duchene scored his team-leading 16th goal and added an assist as Colorado snapped a 14-game road winless skid (0-11-3).

Captain Gabriel Landeskog netted his third short-handed goal and John Mitchell and Jamie McGinn also tallied. PA Parenteau notched a pair of assists for the Avalanche, who posted their first victory away from the Pepsi Center since a 4-3 shootout win over Minnesota on Feb. 14.

Teemu Selanne's 674th career goal at 11:16 of the second period was the lone blemish for Giguere, who ripped his teammates and questioned their focus following Monday's 3-1 loss to Calgary.

After Mitchell snapped a 12-game goalless drought at 1:04 of the first period, Landeskog doubled the advantage 4:07 into the second by using his superior speed to race up the wing before backhanding the puck past Hiller. Duchene gave Colorado a 3-0 lead by unleashing a one-timer from the right circle with one second left on a power play.

Jonas Hiller yielded four goals on 16 shots before being relieved by Viktor Fasth (12 saves) for the Pacific Division-leading Ducks, who needed to secure just one point to clinch a postseason berth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Giguere didn't mince words after the Avalanche's loss to the Flames. "Some guys are more worried about their (Las) Vegas trip at the end of the season than playing the remaining games," Giguere said. "Quite frankly I don't care about your Vegas trip right now. It's not constructive. It's embarrassing. I'm embarrassed to be here right now. It's not even funny." ... Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf returned following a three-game absence with a leg injury. He was held without a shot in 19:21 of ice time. ... Landeskog leads the Western Conference in short-handed tallies. New Jersey stud Ilya Kovalchuk leads the NHL with four.
