DUCKS 3, SHARKS 1: Teemu Selanne broke a tie with 14:38 remaining in the third period as host Anaheim knocked San Jose out of first place in the Pacific Division and won the season series 5-1.

Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry also scored and Jonas Hiller made 28 saves in his 70th start of the season for the Ducks, who were eliminated from playoff contention when Los Angeles defeated Calgary 3-0 earlier Wednesday.

Ryane Clowe scored for the Sharks, who fell one point behind Dallas in the Pacific Division and into a tie for eighth with Los Angeles in the Western Conference.

Selanne deflected Luca Sbisa’s shot from the point past Antti Niemi for his 662nd career goal and 50th against San Jose.

Ryan gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 9:22 of the second period. Devante Smith-Pelly made a nifty pass out of the corner through traffic and Ryan beat Niemi high to his glove side.

The Sharks tied it 52 seconds later when Clowe took a pass in the slot from Logan Couture following a turnover and deked Hiller before firing a shot into an empty net for his 99th career goal.

San Jose’s TJ Galiardi had an opportunity earlier in the second on a partial breakaway, but shot high and wide past Hiller’s glove.

Hiller preserved Anaheim’s 2-1 lead when he robbed Joe Pavelski with a glove save midway through the final period. Niemi denied Selanne on a breakaway with 5:29 left.

Perry was awarded his 36th goal of the season with 8.9 seconds left when San Jose defenseman Dan Boyle knocked the net off its pegs while trying to make a save on Perry’s shot, which hit the post.
