Jason Chimera scored at 12:36 of the second overtime as the top-seeded Washington Capitals completed a wild comeback to post a 4-3 road victory over the New York Rangers in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series on Wednesday.

Chimera's initial shot was blocked and the puck trickled toward the net. As Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist was about to cover it, Marian Gaborik poked the puck into Chimera, who gathered it and deposited it into a vacant net to give the Capitals a 3-1 series lead.

Marcus Johansson scored twice, Alexander Semin also tallied and Michal Neuvirth made 36 saves for Washington, which hosts Game 5 on Saturday.

Brandon Dubinsky recorded a goal and an assist, Gaborik and Artem Anisimov also scored and Lundqvist stopped a playoff career-high 49 shots for the Rangers, who went 0-for-7 on the power play.

After the fourth scoreless opening period of the series, New York erupted for three goals in the second to gain control. Anisimov began the outburst at 5:24 by banking the puck off Washington's Matt Hendricks and past Neuvirth from behind the net for his first career playoff tally.

Gaborik made it 2-0 with 6:20 remaining, converting a cross-slot pass from the left faceoff circle by Fedotenko for his first goal since March 20. The tally also ended Gaborik's 10-game postseason drought.

Dubinsky expanded the lead with his second of the series just seven seconds later, coming within two seconds of tying the NHL playoff record.

The Capitals stormed back in the third to tie the game. Semin poked in a loose puck at the right post at 2:47, Johansson netted his first career playoff goal 57 seconds later and then knotted the contest on a deflection with 7:53 to play.
