Gregory Campbell collected a goal and an assist and Tim Thomas stopped 30 shots as the Boston Bruins skated to a 3-2 home victory over the New York Islanders on Wednesday.

Shawn Thornton and defenseman Dennis Seidenberg also tallied for Boston, which already had secured the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. The win gives the Bruins 101 points on the season.

Rookie Michael Grabner scored both goals for the Islanders, who have dropped eight of 10 on the road.

Thornton beat the first-period horn with one second to spare to open the scoring, before Grabner evened things with a power-play goal at 3:24 of the second.

Seidenberg put the Bruins ahead 4 1/2 minutes later with his seventh of the season for the 2-1 advantage. Campbell added his 13th of the season just 78 seconds later.

Following a high-sticking penalty on Kyle Okposo, Grabner converted the shorthanded tally with just over five minutes left in the second to get the Islanders within 3-2. They were unable to get the equalizer, managing just four shots in the third against Thomas.

Rick DiPietro stopped 30 shots in the loss.
