Defenseman Jack Hillen scored to snap a tie nearly six minutes into the third period as the New York Islanders handed the Boston Bruins their season-high fourth consecutive loss with a 4-2 triumph on Friday.
Matt Moulson netted his team-leading 29th goal of the season and Al Montoya finished with 26 saves for New York (27-32-10), which improved to 4-0-2 in its last six games.
Exactly 4 1/2 minutes after rookie Michael Grabner leveled the contest, Hillen gave the Islanders a 3-2 lead with his career-high fourth goal of the season. The blue-liner wired a shot which deflected off Boston defenseman Dennis Seidenberg and past All-Star Tim Thomas just 5:58 into the third period.
P.A. Parenteau was credited with an empty-net goal with 10 seconds remaining after he was pulled down on a breakaway.
Nathan Horton secured his sixth consecutive 20-goal season and captain Zdeno Chara scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal for Northeast Division-leading Boston (38-21-9).
Veteran Mark Recchi played in his 1,639th career game to tie Dave Andreychuk for fifth all-time in NHL history.
David Krejci notched a pair of assists and Thomas turned aside 38 shots for the Bruins.
