Erik Christensen recorded two goals and two assists and Henrik Lundqvist made 35 saves to record his league-leading eighth shutout of the season, boosting the visiting New York Rangers to a 6-0 victory over the Washington Capitals on Friday.

Rookie Derek Stepan scored his 17th of the season and added an assist while Vinny Prospal, Dan Boyle and defenseman Steve Eminger also scored for the Rangers, who have won three straight games against the Capitals.

Eminger opened the scoring at 5:56 of the first period with his second of the season on a shot from the point and Christensen snapped a shot past Michal Neuvirth from the slot for his seventh of the campaign before the intermission.

Christensen struck again 4:19 into the second period while New York was on the power play before Stepan added another with the man advantage at the 17:52 mark. Prospal added his third of the season and Boyle scored in the third period.

Neuvirth made 22 saves in the loss.
