Matt Moulson recorded his second career hat trick and Al Montoya made 20 saves as the New York Islanders cruised to a 5-1 home victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday afternoon.

Defenseman Radek Martinek and Josh Bailey also scored while blue-liner Travis Hamonic notched a pair of assists for the Islanders, who have won six of their last seven games overall and four of six at home.

Moulson, who scored twice in a 3-0 win over Los Angeles on Saturday, opened the scoring at 9:39 of the first period and beat Tomas Vokoun from the left faceoff dot with five minutes remaining in the session. The 27-year old capped his first three-goal effort since Dec. 3, 2009 with an empty netter at the 17:23 mark of the third period, his team-leading 26th goal of the season.

Martinek converted a power-play chance 37 seconds into the middle period and Bailey made it 4-0 six minutes later.

Montoya's bid for a second straight shutout ended when Mike Santorelli scored a man-advantage goal midway through the third.

Vokoun stopped 32 shots for Florida, which has lost six of eight on the road and 12 of 16 overall.
