Rob Schremp scored his second goal of the game early in the third period, snapping a tie and lifting the New York Islanders to a 5-3 home triumph over the struggling Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

Michael Grabner notched a goal and an assist, Matt Moulson and Frans Nielsen also scored and rookie Kevin Poulin made 20 saves for the Islanders, who halted a four-game home losing streak.

After knotting the contest late in the first session with his eighth goal of the season, Schremp tallied during a 5-on-3 power play 99 seconds into the third.

Nielsen sealed the win with a shorthanded empty-netter in the final seconds.

Moulson's 18th goal of the season at 4:10 of the first period gave New York the lead, but it didn't last long as enforcer Chris Neil beat Poulin 13 seconds later for his third tally. The Islanders went back ahead at 9:44 when Grabner recorded his 16th goal of the campaign and 11th point in as many games.

Mike Fisher tied the contest at 12:20 and Ottawa took its first lead with 2:49 remaining as Alex Kovalev extended his goal-scoring streak to three games. New York wasted little time getting even as Schremp tipped the puck past Brian Elliott 17 seconds afterward.

After starting the second period in place of Elliott, Robin Lehner stopped 23 shots for the Senators, who have lost nine in a row.
