Carey Price made 35 saves to notch his fifth shutout of the season and Scott Gomez scored his seventh goal of the campaign to pace the Montreal Canadiens to a 2-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

Scott Gomez beat Martin Biron over the shoulder from the side of the net at 18:34 of the second period just after the Canadiens killed a P.K. Subban minor penalty for high-sticking. Defensemen Alexandre Picard and Yannick Weber assisted on the goal.

Tomas Plekanec scored his 18th goal of the season into an empty net from Subban with 38 seconds remaining in regulation to put the game away.

Price made 19 stops in the third period alone as New York pushed for the equalizer, backstopping the Canadiens to their third straight victory.

Biron made 27 saves for the Rangers, who went 0-for-4 with the man advantage. New York has now lost four consecutive games for the first time this season.
