Defenseman Mark Giordano collected a goal and an assist, Brendan Morrison also tallied and Curtis Glencross added an empty-net goal as Calgary (26-21-6) won its sixth in a row and improved to 8-1-2 in its last 11 games.

Prior to Thursday, the Flames had yet to win in the Peach State since the Thrashers joined the league in the 1999-2000 season. Calgary had dropped five of those contests and tied the other.

Miikka Kiprusoff turned aside 22 shots to improve to 7-2-1 since the calendar shifted to 2011. The 34-year-old Finn, who is now 4-1-0 in five career starts against the Thrashers, is 22-18-2 on the season.

Bryan Little and Anthony Stewart scored and Evander Kane notched a pair of assists for Atlanta (24-21-9), which fell for the ninth time in its last 11 games. Despite their struggles, the Thrashers still hold onto the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference standings - one point ahead of the Southeast Division rival Carolina Hurricanes (25-21-6).
