Henrik Lundqvist turned aside all 22 shots he faced to record his seventh shutout of the season, tying him with Boston Bruins veteran netminder Tim Thomas for the NHL lead.

The 28-year-old Swede secured his 31st career blanking by stopping eight shots in the first period, five in the second and nine in the third for New York (27-18-3).

A two-time 40-goal scorer, Gaborik was benched for the majority of the second period in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. On Wednesday, Gaborik snapped an eight-game goalless drought by opening the scoring at 10:55 of the first period.

After Brian Boyle netted a power-play goal, Gaborik scored just 36 seconds later and Ruslan Fedotenko upped the advantage to 4-0 nearly 2 1/2 minutes later with his ninth goal of the season.

Gaborik capped the hat trick midway through the second period, and added his fourth of the game 3 1/2 minutes later. Rookie Mats Zuccarello ended the scoring just 53 seconds into the third period.

Jonas Gustavsson permitted six goals on 25 shots for Toronto (18-22-5), which dropped its third in a row.
