Marian Hossa recorded a goal and two assists and Corey Crawford turned aside all 29 shots as the Chicago Blackhawks scored four times in the second period en route to a 5-0 victory over the visiting New York Islanders on Sunday.

Patrick Sharp, Patrick Kane and defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson collected a goal and an assist apiece and Dave Bolland also tallied as Chicago (23-18-3) cruised to its first victory in seven outings against the Islanders.

Crawford secured his first shutout of the season and second career by stopping eight shots in the first period, seven in the second and 14 in the third. The 26-year-old netminder won for the sixth time in his last contests to improve to 14-8-1 this season.

Sharp opened the scoring just 4:52 into the first period with his team-leading 25th goal of the season - and fourth in as many games.

The Blackhawks busted the contest wide open after Hossa and Kane scored five minutes apart early in the second period - and Bolland and Hjalmarsson added insurance in the latter portion of the session.

Nathan Lawson finished with 40 saves to fall to 0-2-1 this season for New York (13-21-6), which fell for just the fourth time in its last 12 games.
