Captain Shane Doan, Radim Vrbata and Kyle Turris scored in all three rounds of the shootout as the visiting Phoenix Coyotes rallied to a 4-3 triumph over the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Martin Hanzal forced the extra session after he netted his ninth goal of the season with 88 seconds remaining in the third period.

Vrbata netted a power-play goal and Wojtek Wolski also tallied as Phoenix (15-9-7) posted its first victory on its six-game road trip. The Coyotes dropped the first two contests on the road.

Defenseman Keith Yandle and Doan notched two assists apiece for Phoenix.

Jason LaBarbera received his second consecutive start with traditional workhorse Ilya Bryzgalov still suffering from the flu. LaBarbera turned aside 41 shots to improve to 3-3-1 this season.

Jesse Joensuu and Michael Grabner collected a goal and an assist apiece and Rob Schremp also tallied for New York (6-18-6), which fell to 2-17-4 in its last 23 games.

Nathan Lawson finished with 32 saves in his first career NHL start. The 27-year-old Lawson was recalled from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League earlier in the day.

Former top overall pick Rick DiPietro sat out the contest with swelling in his left knee.
