Henrik Lundqvist turned aside all 17 shots he faced and defenseman Marc Staal collected a power-play goal as the New York Rangers completed a home-and-home sweep of the visiting New York Islanders with a 2-0 triumph on Friday.

Brian Boyle added an empty-net goal with three seconds remaining for the Rangers (16-11-1), who skated to a 6-5 victory over the Islanders in Uniondale on Thursday.

After the teams combined for 21 goals in their previous two contests, Staal's tally was enough in this one.

The 23-year-old Ontario native scored 4:33 into the second period after forcing a turnover and wiring a shot past veteran Dwayne Roloson for his fourth goal of the season.

Brandon Dubinsky notched a pair of assists as the Rangers recorded their sixth win in eight games.

Lundqvist stopped three shots in the first period and seven in both the second and third for his fourth shutout of the season and 28th career. With the victory, the 28-year-old Swede improved to 11-9-1 on the campaign.

The Islanders (5-14-5) fell for the 16th time in 17 games. The struggling franchise also dropped to 2-9-3 away from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum this campaign.

Roloson finished with 19 saves to fall to 2-10-1 on the season.
