Sidney Crosby recorded a hat-trick as the Pittsburgh Penguins ran their winning streak to eight games with a 3-2 home triumph over the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday.

Chris Kunitz, Deryk Engelland, Arron Asham, Brooks Orpik and Kris Letang each registered assists in helping Crosby bring his goal total to 21 on the season. The Penguins’ captain has tallied 15 times in his previous 14 games.

The victory moved Pittsburgh to 10-0-1 over its past 11 contests.

Trailing by a goal, Crosby evened things at the 7:32 mark of the first period. He added two more even-strength goals in the second to push the lead to 3-1.

Bryan Little scored a power-play goal and Nik Antropov added his seventh of the year late in the second period for the Thrashers, who had won six straight games - one short of the franchise record.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 22 shots to remain unbeaten in regulation in his past 10 starts for Pittsburgh, while Atlanta’s Ondrej Pavelec finished with 25 saves.
