Kris Letang and Chris Conner scored 75 seconds apart midway through the second period as the Pittsburgh Penguins extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-1 road victory over the New York Rangers on Monday.
Maxime Talbot also tallied and Pascal Dupuis notched a pair of assists for the Penguins, who have won five straight on the road.
Pittsburgh grabbed a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game when Talbot beat Henrik Lundqvist with a wrist shot for his fifth goal of the season. Letang doubled the advantage with eight minutes to go in the second and Conner created a three-goal bulge with a shot from above the right hash marks that eluded Lundqvist.
Captain Sidney Crosby picked up an assist on Letang's tally, extending his point streak to 13 games. Crosby has collected 12 goals and 14 assists during the run.
Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 25 shots for Pittsburgh, which is 9-0-1 in its last 10 and has allowed a total of five goals over its last five contests.
Marian Gaborik returned from a one-game absence due to the flu to score his fifth goal and Lundqvist made 24 saves for the Rangers, who fell to 5-7-1 at home this season.
