Mike Ribeiro converted during the third round of the shootout and Kari Lehtonen stopped all three attempts as the Dallas Stars posted a 5-4 triumph over the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Captain Brenden Morrow netted a pair of goals and Jamie Benn and defenseman Stephane Robidas scored just over two minutes apart in the first period for Dallas (2-0-0), which opened its season with a 4-3 overtime victory over the New Jersey Devils on Friday.

Brad Richards and Ribeiro notched two assists apiece and Lehtonen turned aside 43 shots for the Stars.

Veteran Doug Weight had a power-play goal and two assists, while defenseman James Wisniewski also netted a power-play goal and had an assist. Blake Comeau and Matt Moulson also tallied for New York (0-0-1).

Josh Bailey collected two assists and Rick DiPietro, who is entering his fifth year of his 15-year, $67 million contract, finished with 17 saves the Islanders.

John Tavares left the game in the first period after an open-ice collision with Adam Burish. The top overall pick of the 2009 draft, Tavares led the Islanders last season with 54 points.
