LAS VEGAS -- Few towns in the world provide a better tourist destination than Las Vegas. That is unless you are a National Hockey League team.

Center William Karlsson scored two goals, including one short-handed, and David Perron and Luca Sbisa each had a goal and an assist to lead the Vegas Golden Knights to a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night at T-Mobile Arena.

James Neal scored his ninth goal and Maxime Lagace stopped 24 shots to pick up his second win in seven games in net for the Golden Knights (10-5-1), who improved to 7-1-0 at home.

"We feel real strong here at home," Karlsson said. "It's our building. Obviously we want to show our crowd that this is our building. I think mentally it might be tougher for the opponents."

"I thought we played one of our best games of the year for sure," Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said. "We played hard. We played fast. We had a lot of energy out there. We played against a real good team and made them make some mistakes, and we capitalized on our chances."

Patrik Laine and Adam Lowry each scored for Winnipeg (8-4-3), which had an eight-game point streak snapped. It was the fourth straight game that Laine, who has eight goals, has scored.

Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck suffered his first loss of the season. Hellebuyck, who came in as the only goalie in the NHL that had made 10 starts without a regulation loss (8-0-2), was replaced after two periods by Steve Mason after stopping just 16 shots.

"That's how hockey goes," Hellebuyck said. "I can't expect to go how many starts without a loss. It's going to happen. I'm going to look better. I'm going to work harder tomorrow. I'm not going to let this faze me. I'm going to use this as motivation."

"I didn't think the puck was going for Helle early on but didn't want to pull him toward the end of the second period because didn't want to give the impression it was on him," Jets coach Paul Maurice said. "He was like everybody else tonight, just a bit off from where they've been. Mason is going in tomorrow (at Arizona). That was the plan. So it was good to get him in. He got some game action to get him ready for tomorrow."

The Jets, who had scored first in six straight games, saw that streak snapped when Sbisa slapped in a shot from the left point just 6:41 into the contest. Perron extended the Golden Knights' lead to 2-0 when he wristed in a shot from the right circle for his fifth goal with 4:52 left in the first.

Lowry cut the lead to 2-1 when he redirected a Dmitry Kulikov shot past Lagace 39 seconds later. Karlsson answered midway through the second period when, left all alone in front of the net, he easily tapped in a rebound of defenseman Deryk Engelland's shot from the right point.

"One of my easier goals in my career," Karlsson said. "Engie shot it and I just slammed it next to the goal and put it in."

Laine then rocketed in a slap shot from the left point on a power play 1:40 later to draw Winnipeg to within 3-2, but Vegas quickly answered when Neal, who had gone to the bench to get a new stick, intercepted a Kulikov pass to the left of the net and rifled a shot into the top right corner.

Karlsson then added a short-handed goal 62 seconds later to make it 5-2 when Reilly Smith stole the puck in the Jets zone and found him all alone breaking away near center ice.

"I saw I had an opening to go," Karlsson said. "Their (defense) was kind of flat-footed so I saw my chance. I just yelled for it and I got it, and luckily I scored too."
