Wild 2, Islanders 1 (SO): Zach Parise forged a tie in the third period before scoring the lone goal of the shootout in the first round as Minnesota extended its franchise-record road winning streak to 10 games.

After Devan Dubnyk stopped Frans Nielsen, Parise unleashed a shot that hit the left post. While attempting to corral the puck, Jaroslav Halak instead pushed it across the goal line with his glove, and Dubnyk denied Kyle Okposo and captain John Tavares to secure Minnesota's club-record 22nd win away from home.

Jason Pominville and captain Mikko Koivu each notched an assist for the Wild, who won for the fifth time in six overall games. Dubnyk made 37 saves in his 33rd consecutive start to improve to 24-6-1 with wild card-leading Minnesota, which climbed within three points of idle Chicago for third place in the Central Division.

Tavares scored in regulation for the Islanders, who suffered their fifth defeat in six contests but remained two points ahead of Pittsburgh for second place in the Metropolitan. Okposo and rookie Anders Lee set up the tally while Halak turned aside 31 shots.

After a mad scramble in front, Tavares chipped the loose puck off Dubnyk's left pad and into the net from near the right post with 23.7 seconds remaining in the second period to put the Islanders in front. Parise drew Minnesota even with 8:15 left in the third, poking in a loose puck after New York defenseman Travis Hamonic inadvertently tapped the rebound of Pominville's shot into the crease.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wild LW Thomas Vanek failed to land on the scoresheet against his former team, ending his point streak at eight games. The Austrian had a chance to end the game early in overtime, but Halak turned aside his slap shot on a breakaway. ... New York C Casey Cizikas was a force on faceoffs, winning nine of his 10 draws. ... Islanders legend Pat LaFontaine was honored before the game and dropped the ceremonial first puck. ... Minnesota has won 11 of its last 14 games and earned a league-high 44 points (22-5-1) since the All-Star break.
