Kings 4, Blackhawks 3: Tyler Toffoli forged a tie with 6:11 remaining in the third period and defenseman Jake Muzzin snapped it 2:34 later as host Los Angeles halted its four-game slide (0-2-2).
Jeff Carter scored two goals and set up another for the Kings, who won for only the third time in 12 contests. All-Star Anze Kopitar notched two assists, Toffoli added one in his return to the lineup and Jonathan Quick made 26 saves.
All-Star Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp each recorded a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who fell to 1-1-0 on their season-high seven-game road trip. Andrew Shaw also tallied and All-Star Corey Crawford turned aside 23 shots.
Chicago opened the scoring 1:58 into the contest as Kane fired the puck past Quick from below the right faceoff circle after defenseman David Rundblad's one-timer was blocked. Carter forged a tie at 8:42 of the first with a turnaround shot from the left circle, but Sharp converted a cross-slot pass from Kane during a power play three minutes later to restore the Blackhawks' lead.
Carter answered again at 1:45 of the second, firing the puck over Crawford's left shoulder from the right circle while on the man advantage before Shaw beat Quick to the glove side 2:25 into the third to put Chicago back in front. Los Angeles pulled even a third time as Toffoli received a backhand feed from Dwight King and wristed the puck past Crawford from the top of the slot, and Muzzin unleashed a shot from the blue line that deflected off Chicago defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson's stick for the winner.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Carter's two-goal performance was his second of the season. He also scored twice Dec. 20 against Arizona. ... Toffoli had missed the previous six games due to a case of mononucleosis. ... Chicago C Brad Richards registered a team-high five shots on goal.
