Flyers 3, Capitals 2 (OT): Jakub Voracek beat Braden Holtby with a one-timer from the top of the slot during a power play at 1:28 of overtime as host Philadelphia posted its second straight victory following a five-game slide.

Sean Couturier and R.J. Umberger also scored for the Flyers, who netted more than two tallies for just the second time in six games. Defenseman Nick Schultz and Matt Read each recorded two assists while Steve Mason turned aside 26 shots.

Captain Alex Ovechkin extended his goal-scoring streak to five games and blue-liner Karl Alzner also tallied for the Capitals, who had their five-game point streak (4-0-1) snapped. Defenseman Mike Green set up both goals and Holtby made 30 saves while setting a franchise record by appearing in his 23rd consecutive contest.

Washington capitalized on an early power-play opportunity to take the lead as Ovechkin beat Mason with his patented one-timer from the top of the left faceoff circle 3:08 into the contest. The Flyers pulled even midway through the first period, when Couturier buried a loose puck from the right side of the crease after Schultz's one-timer from the left point hit a skate in front.

After a scoreless second session, the Capitals surged ahead 3:08 into the third, with Alzner's rising wrist shot from the left point finding the top left corner of the net. The lead lasted only 74 seconds as Schultz's shot from the left point banked off the end boards to Umberger, who scored from the right hash marks.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Alzner was awarded his goal after a lengthy video review to determine whether or not Capitals C Nicklas Backstrom deflected the puck with his stick above the crossbar proved inconclusive. Backstrom did, however, get his stick on Voracek's shot in overtime, causing it to change direction and get past Holtby. ... Philadelphia D Nicklas Grossmann suffered an upper-body injury when he was crunched into the boards by Washington RW Tom Wilson late in the first period and did not return. ... Holtby eclipsed the franchise record for consecutive appearances by a goalie set by Wayne Stephenson from Feb. 23-April 5, 1980.
