Kings 3, Sharks 1: Anze Kopitar recorded a goal and an assist as host Los Angeles avenged a season-opening home loss.

Tyler Toffoli and defenseman Jake Muzzin also scored for the Kings, who completed a 3-0-1 homestand. Jonathan Quick made 21 saves as Los Angeles converted two of its four power-play opportunities to finish 9-for-17 during the four-game run at Staples Center.

Joe Pavelski netted the lone goal for the Sharks, who had their six-game point streak (5-0-1) snapped. Antti Niemi turned aside 26 shots in suffering his first regulation loss in nine decisions (7-1-1) as San Jose fell in 60 minutes for just the second time in 12 contests (9-2-1).

San Jose got on the board 2:39 into the contest as Joe Thornton forced a turnover by Justin Williams and dished the puck to Pavelski, who fired it between Quick's pads from the slot. The Kings pulled even with 5:56 left in the opening session as defenseman Jamie McBain made a brilliant cross-slot pass from the top of the right faceoff circle to Toffoli, who beat Niemi from the bottom of the left circle.

Kopitar snapped the tie midway through the second, burying a rebound from the right side of the crease during a power play after Niemi denied Marian Gaborik's backhand attempt from the left side. Muzzin created breathing room while on the man advantage at 3:18 of the third with a blast from the top of the left circle after receiving a cross-slot feed from fellow defenseman Drew Doughty.
