Islanders 3, Devils 2 (SO): Josh Bailey scored a goal in regulation before netting the decisive tally in the fifth round of the shootout to lift host New York.

Matt Martin scored the tying goal with 9:15 left in the third period and Kyle Okposo also converted in the bonus format as the Islanders improved to 6-0 in shootouts. Jaroslav Halak made 26 saves and denied three attempts in the bonus format before Jacob Josefson's shot in the fifth round sailed over the net to wrap up his ninth victory in his last 10 home starts.

Defenseman Marek Zidlicky and Scott Gomez each recorded a goal and an assist while the latter also tallied in the shootout for New Jersey, which suffered its fourth straight defeat (0-2-2). Jaromir Jagr collected a pair of assists and rookie Keith Kinkaid, who grew up on Long Island, made 31 saves but was unable to protect a two-goal lead and secure his first career win.

With the Devils on the power play, Zidlicky opened the scoring at 12:15 of the first period with a straight-on blast from the point that beat a screened Halak to end his 18-game goalless drought. New Jersey doubled the advantage when Gomez's attempted pass from along the right-wing boards deflected off a skate and into the net with 4:40 left in the session.

The Islanders cut the deficit in half less than two minutes into the second, when Ryan Strome sent a pass from behind the net to Bailey, whose one-timer from the slot beat Kinkaid stick side. New York drew even midway through the third as Martin's wrister from the right faceoff circle found the far corner of the net.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jagr's two assists boosted his career total to 1,065 and snapped a tie with Steve Yzerman for seventh place on the all-time list. It also gave him 77 points in 52 regular-season games at Nassau Coliseum - the most by an opposing player. ... Strome recorded his 21st point to move within six of Okposo and captain John Tavares for the team lead. ... Gomez has registered six points in his last five games and collected his 338th assist as a member of the Devils on Zidlicky's goal to move past D Scott Stevens and into fourth place on the franchise list.
