Penguins 3, Senators 2: Defenseman Christian Ehrhoff scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period to lift host Pittsburgh over Ottawa.

Evgeni Malkin added a pair of tallies for the Penguins, who improved to 8-0-1 against Atlantic Division opponents. Ehrhoff, who has 71 goals in his 718-game career, registered a game-high seven shots while Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves.

David Legwand and Mika Zibanejad scored for the Senators, who are winless in five games and 1-6-1 in their last eight. Craig Anderson stopped 30 shots in the setback.

Ehrhoff blasted a slap shot from the right faceoff dot past Anderson with 1:50 remaining to snap a 2-2 tie. Malkin had knotted the contest with 1:57 left in the second period, when he got his stick on Brandon Sutter's redirection of defenseman Olli Maatta's shot from the left faceoff circle during a power play.

Malkin opened the scoring with a forehand deke on a breakaway 4:17 into the game. Ottawa responded during a man advantage at 1:13 of the second period, when captain Erik Karlsson’s point shot was tipped by Milan Michalek before glancing off Legwand and past Fleury, and Zibanejad gave the Senators the lead 7 1/2 minutes later by snapping a quick shot between Fleury’s pads.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh C Zach Sill received a game misconduct for a high open-ice hit on Ottawa C Kyle Turris early in the first period. Turris remained in the game. … Pittsburgh D Kris Letang and Fs Chris Kunitz and Patric Hornqvist all missed the contest with injuries, while D Robert Bortuzzo served the second contest of his two-game suspension. … Ottawa D Jared Cowen was a healthy scratch for the second straight game.
