Predators 4, Coyotes 3 (SO): Ryan Ellis capped a three-point night by scoring the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout to lift host Nashville.

Ellis had a goal and two assists in regulation, Mike Ribeiro added one of each and James Neal scored the tying tally in the third as the Predators improved to 3-0-1 at home. Pekka Rinne made 16 of his 33 saves in the third period and denied three of four shots in the shootout, turning aside former teammate Martin Erat to clinch it.

Defenseman Keith Yandle had a goal and an assist and Rob Klinkhammer and Erat also tallied for Arizona in its first road game after opening the season with four straight at home. Devan Dubnyk turned aside 23 shots in his second start but was beaten by Derek Roy and Ellis in the bonus format.

After Klinkhammer and Ribeiro traded first-period tallies, the Predators went ahead on Ellis' first goal of the campaign, connecting from the right circle at 5:12 of the second. Yandle, playing in his 500th career game, tied it on the power play 6 1/2 minutes later, burying a shot off the faceoff while using defenseman Shea Weber as a screen.

Erat burned his former team with another power-play tally at 7:42 of the third, lifting a shot over the left pad of Rinne from in tight, but Nashville needed only 21 seconds to net the equalizer. Ribeiro skated down the left side and dropped a pass to Neal, who hammered a slap shot from the left circle past the glove of Dubnyk.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ribeiro, who had the final three years of his contract bought out by Arizona, extended his point streak to four games. ... Klinkhammer's tally marked the first time the Coyotes scored first this season but Ribeiro's goal was the 10th surrendered by Arizona in the first period - a league worst. ... Erat, who played his first 10 1/2 seasons with the Predators and is second on the franchise list with 163 goals, was making his second trip to Nashville since he was dealt to Washington during the 2012-13 season.
