Canucks 4, Capitals 2: Nick Bonino and Radim Vrbata each recorded a goal and an assist as Vancouver continued its home dominance of Washington.
Captain Henrik Sedin and defenseman Luca Sbisa also scored for the Canucks, who improved to 8-0-1 in their last nine home meetings with the Capitals. Chris Higgins notched a pair of assists and Ryan Miller made 20 saves as he moved within one of becoming the 30th goaltender in NHL history to reach the 300-win plateau.
Marcus Johansson and Liam O'Brien tallied for the Capitals, who completed a 1-2-0 road trip. Defenseman Mike Green set up both goals and Justin Peters turned aside 30 shots.
After a scoreless first period, Johansson gave Washington the lead at 5:28 of the second by converting a cross-slot pass by Andre Burakovsky from the left faceoff circle. Sedin tapped in a loose puck at the right post during a power play with six minutes remaining and Bonino beat Peters from the left circle on a 2-on-1 rush 1:22 later to put Vancouver in front.
Sbisa fired a one-timer from above the left circle over the glove of Peters 25 seconds afterward to make it 3-1. O'Brien knocked Green's feed past Miller from the low slot with 2:42 left in the session for his first career tally, but Vrbata fired the puck into an empty net from deep in his own zone for a power-play goal with 61 seconds remaining to seal it.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Vancouver registered 34 shots on goal, marking the first time Washington has allowed more than 29 this season. ... Vrbata has recorded a point in seven of his first eight games with the Canucks. ... Washington LW Alex Ovechkin was held without a point for the fourth consecutive game.
