Stars 3, Devils 2 (SO): Captain Jamie Benn scored in regulation to extend his goal streak to five games before ending the shootout in the second round as visiting Dallas sent New Jersey to its 18th consecutive defeat in the bonus format.

Jason Spezza skated in and made a series of moves before backhanding the puck inside the left post in the first round. Benn ended the contest by breezing in and wristing a shot past Cory Schneider (35 saves) as the Stars improved to 4-0-1 in their last five games.

Kari Lehtonen turned aside 25 shots and Patrick Eaves also tallied in regulation for Dallas. Spezza notched his club-best eighth assist and Tyler Seguin also set up one goal for his team-leading 11th point.

Defenseman Eric Gelinas and Damien Brunner scored their respective first goals for the Devils, who fell to 0-2-2 in their last four games and 0-1-2 at home. New Jersey forged a 2-2 tie at 8:18 of the third period as Patrik Elias played the puck with his glove before sending it across the goal mouth for Brunner to tap home.

Gelinas' blast from the point opened the scoring 5:21 into the contest before Dallas answered at 4:30 of the second, with Seguin stripping the puck from Devils defenseman Andy Greene behind the net before Benn scored from the doorstep. The Stars claimed their first lead over 11 minutes later as defenseman Alex Goligoski banked a pass off the right-wing boards to Eaves, who wired a sharp-angle bid inside the near post.
