Red Wings 4, Penguins 3 (OT): Justin Abdelkader scored 4:16 into overtime as host Detroit rallied from a two-goal deficit late in the third period to stun Pittsburgh.

Defenseman Brendan Smith's blast in overtime was denied by Thomas Greiss, who made 27 saves in his season debut. An attempted clear by the Penguins deflected off Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg's stick to Abdelkader, who wired a shot past Greiss to end the wild contest.

With Jimmy Howard (23 saves) pulled for an extra attacker, Zetterberg scored from the slot with 2:39 remaining in the third period to trim the Penguins' lead to 3-2. The Red Wings continued to press and Pavel Datsyuk elected to pass on a shot and feed defenseman Niklas Kronwall, who beat Greiss from the slot exactly two minutes later for his second goal of the contest.

Kronwall joined Zetterberg with three-point performances for the Red Wings, who sent Pittsburgh to its second straight loss. Pascal Dupuis recorded his 400th career point with a goal while Chris Kunitz and defenseman Olli Maatta also tallied for the Penguins, who saw Blake Comeau notch a pair of assists to record his first multi-point performance since Jan. 21, 2012.

Dupuis converted a 2-on-1 rush 5:12 into the first period to open the scoring and Maatta skated out from the left corner and backhanded the puck past Howard six minutes later to double the advantage. Kronwall halved the deficit with five minutes left in the session before Kunitz's wrist shot sailed under the glove of Howard at 8:29 of the second.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby was held off the scoresheet for the second straight contest after recording four goals and five assists in his previous four games. ... Howard debuted a new mask to honor "Hockey Fights Cancer" - essentially a pink variation with the designs he traditionally wears. ... Detroit killed off all three of Pittsburgh's power-play opportunities to remain perfect on the penalty kill this season (21-for-21). The Red Wings, however, went 0-for-3 on the power play and haven't scored on their last 16 attempts.
