Oilers 3, Coyotes 2 (SO): Sam Gagner scored the tying goal in the final minute of regulation before netting the only tally in the fourth round of the shootout as visiting Edmonton handed Phoenix its fourth straight loss (0-2-2).

Defenseman Justin Schultz scored late in the opening period and Jordan Eberle collected a pair of assists as the Oilers snapped a three-game losing streak. Ben Scrivens made 24 saves and denied all four attempts in the bonus format as Edmonton avoided a five-game season-series sweep against the Coyotes.

Defensman Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a power-play goal and assisted on Kyle Chipchura's go-ahead tally in the third period for Phoenix, which moved one point ahead of Dallas for eighth place in the Western Conference, although the Stars have two games in hand. Thomas Greiss made 24 saves but committed a costly turnover that allowed the Oilers to send the game into overtime.

Chipchura snapped a 1-1 deadlock with 7:18 left to play in regulation, banging home a rebound of Ekman-Larsson's straight-on blast. But Edmonton tied it when Eberle stole the puck from Greiss behind the net and sent a pass that banked off defenseman Zbynek Michalek, leaving Gagner with a tap-in with 40.4 seconds to play.

The Oilers went ahead in the final minute of the opening period when Eberle sent a cross-ice pass to an oncoming Schultz, whose wrist shot deflected off the stick of a diving Ekman-Larsson and past Greiss. Ekman-Larsson tied it on the power play with just under 5 1/2 minutes to play in the second period, skating into the right circle before whistling a wrist shot that beat Scrivens to the top left corner.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ekman-Larsson set a career high with his 14 goals, surpassing the 13 he scored in 82 games in 2011-12. ... Oilers LW Taylor Hall collected his 12th point in 10 games with an assist on Schultz's goal. ... Coyotes RW David Moss was back in the lineup after sitting out the past three games with a lower-body injury.
