Blackhawks 4, Blue Jackets 3: Ben Smith scored with 3.9 seconds left in regulation to lift visiting Chicago to its 13th consecutive victory over Columbus.

Smith swept home a rebound off a scramble in front and Patrick Sharp had a goal and an assist as the Blackhawks halted a five-game winless drought on the road to pull within a point of Colorado for second place in the Central Division. Defenseman Jeremy Morin and Marian Hossa scored while defenseman Duncan Keith collected three assists to help Antti Raanta (24 saves) notch his first win since Jan. 12.

Derek MacKenzie, Ryan Johansen and Artem Anisimov netted goals for the Blue Jackets, who suffered their ninth straight loss to Chicago at home to remain one point ahead of Toronto for the final wild-card slot in the Eastern Conference. Sergei Bobrovsky made 34 saves for Columbus, which has a game in hand on the Maple Leafs.

After Johansen gave Columbus the lead 36 seconds into the middle session, the Blackhawks went ahead 3 1/2 minutes later on Sharp's power-play blast from the right point before Hossa got behind the defense and beat Bobrovsky with a forehand stick side midway through the period. Anisimov knotted it five minutes later when his crossing pass deflected off the stick of Chicago defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson and past Raanta.

MacKenzie opened the scoring 92 seconds into the game, charging to the net and banging home a rebound of R.J. Umberger's shot. Morin got the equalizer with a wrister from the top of the right circle with 2:50 left in the period for his second goal of the season.
