Flames 3, Avalanche 1: Mike Cammalleri scored for the first time in six games and Joey MacDonald made 39 saves as visiting Calgary snapped a franchise-record 13-game road winless streak (0-12-1).

Roman Cervenka and Alex Tanguay added goals for the Flames, who have two wins in their last eight games - both against Colorado. MacDonald stopped all 14 shots he faced in the third period to preserve the victory, which was Calgary’s first in six overall contests.

Brad Malone scored his first career goal for the Avalanche, who are winless in five and have one victory in their last 10 games (1-8-1). Jean-Sebastien Giguere finished with 31 saves as Colorado fell three points behind Calgary at the bottom of the Western Conference.

Malone deflected fellow rookie Tyson Barrie’s point shot past MacDonald to open the scoring 1:45 into the second period. Cervenka responded midway through the period, tipping a shot past Giguere 10 seconds after Colorado forward Patrick Bordeleau’s charging penalty expired.

Cammalleri beat Giguere with a one-timer with 3:07 remaining in the second to give Calgary the lead. With the Flames short-handed late in the third, Tanguay skated in alone on Giguere and bobbled the puck before scoring from a tight angle to seal the win.
