Tomas Plekanec recorded a goal and an assist while All-Star Carey Price made 23 saves to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-0 home victory over the offensively challenged Winnipeg Jets on Sunday afternoon.

Max Pacioretty and defenseman Alexei Emelin also scored and Aaron Palushaj notched his first NHL point with an assist for Montreal, which halted a three-game losing streak and registered more than one goal for just the second time in five home contests.

Price turned aside seven shots in the first period and eight in each of the final two sessions for his 15th career shutout and third this season.

Ondrej Pavelec stopped 20 shots for Winnipeg, which totaled five goals during its 2-4-0 road trip. The Jets franchise, which fell to 1-7-1 in its last nine visits to the Bell Centre, has scored two goals or less in 10 of its last 12 games.

Pacioretty gave Price all the offensive support he needed late in the first period with his 19th tally of the season. From the right side of the net, Pacioretty's backhander caromed off the post and Pavelec's stick before sliding across the goal line for a 1-0 lead.

Emelin converted a shorthanded 2-on-1 rush at 7:20 of the second and Plekanec beat Pavelec from the right faceoff circle during a power play just over four minutes later to cap the scoring.
