Patrik Berglund tallied twice in just over four minutes in the first period as the St. Louis Blues denied Chris Osgood in his bid for his 400th career victory on Thursday with a 4-3 triumph over the visiting Detroit Red Wings.

Defenseman Erik Johnson netted a power-play goal and Matt D'Agostini also tallied for St. Louis (17-12-5), which posted three first-period goals in just 5:26 to send the Blues on their way to their second straight victory.

David Backes notched a pair of assists and Jaroslav Halak turned aside 35 shots to snap a personal four-game losing skid. The 25-year-old netminder posted his first career victory in three outings against the Central Division-leading Red Wings.

Johan Franzen, Patrick Eaves and captain Nicklas Lidstrom scored and Henrik Zetterberg and defenseman Brian Rafalski notched two assists apiece for Detroit (21-9-4), which won the first two encounters between the division rivals this season.

The Red Wings skated to a 7-3 victory over the Blues on Nov. 17 and a 5-2 triumph on Dec. 15.

Osgood finished with 21 saves to fall to 3-3-2 this season. The three-time Stanley Cup champion netminder was unsuccessful on his first bid for the milestone victory on Sunday, as the Dallas Stars rallied to a 4-3 overtime.
