Captain Daniel Alfredsson and Nick Foligno netted power-play goals just over five minutes apart in the second period as the visiting Ottawa Senators recorded a 3-1 triumph over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.

Chris Kelly added an empty-net tally with 37 seconds left in the third period and Erik Karlsson notched a pair of assists as Ottawa (14-16-3) improved to 2-0-1 in its last three games.

Jose Theodore turned aside 22 shots to improve to 5-4-1 this season. The former Hart and Vezina Trophy winner has yielded just 15 goals in his last eight starts.

As for Alfredsson, he tallied for the second time in as many games for his team-leading 10th goal of the season.

Kyle Brodziak netted his fifth goal of the season for Minnesota (13-13-4), which fell to 3-7-2 in its last 12 games.

Pascal Leclaire finished with 23 saves to drop to 3-8-1 on the season.
