Carey Price turned aside 26 shots to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday afternoon.
Price was nearly unbeatable, allowing only Benn Ferreiro's first-period goal on the way to his league-best 16th victory of the season. The result also lowered his goals-against average back below 2.00 for the season.
Tomas Plekanec's goal with six minutes left in the second period was the game winner as the Canadiens (17-8-2) won for the third time in four games. Mathieu Darche and Michael Cammalleri also had goals for Montreal.
Antti Niemi made 16 saves in defeat for the Sharks (12-9-4), who fell to 1-1 on their five-game East Coast road swing.
