Alex Goligoski scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period as the Pittsburgh Penguins earned their fifth straight victory Friday, shading the visiting Ottawa Senators 2-1.
With Senators forward Chris Kelly serving a double-minor for hooking and holding, Goligoski beat Ottawa netminder Pascal Leclaire to extend the Pens' point streak to eight games (7-0-1). Each of the last four victories have been one-goal margins.
Marc-Andre Fleury continued his hot streak with a sensational 43-save performance. Fleury, who opened the season with just one victory in his first eight outings, has been in goal for each of the last eight games and has allowed more than three goals just once in that span.
Evgeni Malkin added a power-play marker for Pittsburgh while Sidney Crosby drew an assist to extend his career-high point streak to 11 games. Crosby has nine goals and 13 assists during the streak, which has vaulted him into sole possession of second place in the NHL scoring race.
Jesse Winchester had the lone goal for Ottawa, which has dropped five of its last six games. Leclaire turned aside 38 shots in defeat.
