Oilers 3, Senators 2: Ales Hemsky ended a seven-game point drought with a pair of goals as host Edmonton ended its three-game winless streak.

Jordan Eberle scored his first goal in seven games and Taylor Hall notched two assists for the Oilers, who are 1-1-1 on their five-game homestand. Ben Scrivens made 34 saves a day after signing a two-year contract extension as Edmonton earned at least one point for the fifth time in six contests (3-1-2).

Captain Jason Spezza and defenseman Erik Karlsson tallied for the Senators, who have lost three of four. Craig Anderson finished with 27 saves as Ottawa was swept of the two-game season series.

Ottawa grabbed an early lead as Spezza took a backhand pass from Milan Michalek and beat Scrivens from the slot 5:22 into the contest. Hemsky forged a tie with 5 1/2 minutes left in the opening period, racing down the right wing and around Senators defenseman Chris Phillips in the faceoff circle before slipping a backhander past Anderson from the top of the crease for a power-play goal.

Hemsky, who had scored one goal in his previous 24 games, put Edmonton ahead at 8:58 of the second as he ripped the puck past a screened Anderson from the right circle to complete his first two-goal performance of the season. Eberle added a much-needed insurance tally 4:26 into the third as Karlsson beat Scrivens from the right circle with 2:55 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Edmonton made a pair of deals involving goaltenders on the eve of the trade deadline, sending veteran Ilya Bryzgalov to Minnesota for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft while acquiring Viktor Fasth from Anaheim for a fifth-rounder this year and a 2015 third-round selection. ... The Senators made a minor deal, acquiring D Patrick Mullen from Vancouver for LW Jeff Costello. Mullen was assigned to Binghamton of the American Hockey League. ... With no netminder in the system readily available, the Oilers dressed Kurtis Mucha of the University of Alberta as Scrivens' backup.
